We’re looking for a summer intern to join our Motion SW Development team, where you’ll be working on advanced optimization methods applied to vehicle energy management.

The Motion SW Development team specializes in the development of advanced vehicle motion control and energy management functions, encompassing system design, function development, and software engineering for both embedded and cloud-based solutions. It employs AI/ML technologies to improve vehicle stability and energy efficiency. It is responsible for creating toolchains and CI/CD pipelines to streamline software integration and deployment, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery. The team also develops Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems to provide robust testing environments for verification and validation of software functionalities. Additionally, the team focuses on designing functional safety solutions for vehicle motion control systems, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards while driving innovation in automotive software and control technologies.

What You'll Do:

This internship is focused on developing and validating optimization algorithms for Electric Vehicle (EV) Energy Management systems. The responsibilities include developing proof-of-concepts of advanced optimization algorithms for energy management of EVs and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) within the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Additionally, support the software development team in integrating the solution into existing products. The internship will involve the following tasks and activities:

• Develop optimization algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink environment.
• Verify and demonstrate the algorithms in a simulation environment.
• Collaborate with software teams to integrate the solution into existing products.
• Document algorithm design and outcomes.

Who You Are:

• Currently pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Vehicle Engineering, System Controls, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm prototyping and system modeling.
• Knowledge of optimization techniques (e.g., non-linear optimization, dynamic programming) and numerical methods.
• Knowledge of EV & PHEVs powertrain architectures and Energy Management principles.
• Proficiency in Python is an added advantage.

Internship Information

• Location: Gothenburg, Sweden. No relocation support is offered.
• Salary: Paid at a fixed hourly rate.
• Duration: You need to be available for a full-time internship. The start date for this internship will be mid-June and ongoing for about 10 weeks. Details are to be discussed with the recruiting manager.
• Requirements: You need to have a legal permit to live and work in Sweden.
